Aspects of Proposals Guys Tend to Forget About
Ok, so you have this grand plan in your head of how you’re going to propose to your girlfriend, but have you kept these things in mind?
1. Making a reservation. You’re plan is going to fall apart if the restaurant you want to take you loved one to is booked for the night and can’t fit you in. Depending on how busy and exclusive the restaurant is you might have to call weeks in advance. If you make your reservation weeks before you’re going to propose, once the date gets closer call to make sure they still have you on the reservation list.
2. Making sure your loved one’s schedule is clear. You can’t propose if you don’t have anyone to propose to! Talk before and make sure your boyfriend/girlfriend can make it to dinner, a weekend vacation, or whenever you plan to do it.
3. Have you asked for her parents blessing? Asking for her parents blessing lets them know that you have good intentions. It also serves as a bonding time, and who knows maybe her mother will offer to help you pick out a ring!
4. Don’t forget the ring. It seems like something you wouldn’t forget, but who knows you might get caught up in making sure everything else is perfect that you forget to bring the ring.
5. How much engagements and weddings cost. Don’t plan on spending all of your money on an engagement because after you get engaged you have a wedding to start planning and weddings can cost a pretty penny.
6. Does your loved one have any allergies? It’s probably not the best idea to take your girlfriend/boyfriend on a romantic sunset horse back ride if she’s allergic to horses. Nor is it a good idea to take her to an expensive dinner where she can’t have anything on the menu because of certain allergies. Knowing your girlfriend/boyfriend’s preferences and limitations will help you plan a better proposal.
7. Get down on one knee! Don’t be one of those guys that forgets to get down on one knee when giving his proposal speech. If going over this motion will help you remember, then go through the action when preparing and rehearsing what you’re going to say.
If you’ve thought about and done all of these things then you’re prepared to propose!
