How to Announce Your Engagement
So you popped the question. And she said yes! Now that the hard part is done, how should you announce your big news? Well, allow us to show you your options:
1. Telephone
If you want to hear how your family and friends react to your big news, tell them over the phone. This way, the news is more of a dialogue than an announcement. Nothing beats hearing your sister or best gal pal squeal with excitement, asking you to rehash every detail and then demand that you send you a picture of the ring ASAP.
2. Social Media
If you want the people who sat two lunch tables over from you in high school to know that you are officially off of the market, then announcing your proposal via social media might just be the way to go! Posting a picture of the ring (no caption needed) on either Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or, who are we kidding, on all three sites, will ensure that your big news blows up.
3. Website
In this tech-savy day and age, websites are also a viable option. Create you and your partner’s very own website detailing every aspect of the proposal with pictures to illustrate and then share the link with your loved ones. After the initial surprise of the announcement, websites are a great way to keep your friends and family updated. Continuously post news about the wedding date, showers, and gift registry to the site to ensure that everyone feels like a part of this exciting time in your lives.
4. Newspaper
Nothing will make grandma prouder than showing off her grandchild’s engagement announcement to her all of her friends at bingo night. Newspapers are a foolproof way to make sure that everyone has access to your big news, even that next door nosy next door neighbor or your computer-less great aunt.
5. Photo Shoot
Taking engagement photos serves at least two purposes. Photos can be printed onto engagement announcements that will preface the save-the-dates. Engagement photos are also a great way to capture this special time in your lives for you and your fiance to look back on in the years to come.
6. Party
If you can’t contain your joy and excitement, throw an engagement party to let it all out. Chances are that your friends and family will be just as excited as you are, so, why not get everyone together and celebrate. An engagement party will give you and your fiance a great opportunity to mingle with those who are invested in your future as well as a chance for you to gush about possible details with your wedding party.
Can’t choose just one way to announce that you’re finally tying the knot? Don’t choose, do them all! Your engagement is some of the biggest news you will ever get to announce, so, go big and celebrate with all of your family and friends in every way imaginable!
