The “Do Nots” of Tying the Knot: Part I – Timing
The timing of your proposal is an important key to making it perfect. A proposal made at the wrong time can result in the wrong mood, the wrong memories and even the wrong answer! Here are a few timing “Do Nots” when trying to get her to “tie the knot.”
DO NOT propose, if you haven’t talked about marriage. The element of surprise is key to a proposal, but do not take her completely off guard. It’s important to make sure you have the same feelings about each other and both plan on getting married.
DO NOT propose too early in the relationship. Many relationships fail because people jump into marriage before truly getting to know the person they’ve vowed to spend the rest of their life with. Often these marriages fail because people haven’t spent the time to work on big issues, such as living situations and money. Although these topics may lead to arguments, it’s important to work them out.
DO NOT propose after an argument. A proposal will not make things better. Your girl will see right through the proposal to the fact that you’re trying to cover it up.
Keeping these tips in mind, finding the right time and knowing she’ll say “yes” will help you make the perfect proposal.
